My third painting this week….whew! Going to give my aching hand a rest now!

More paintings from my “Unmasked” Series…

For those of you who know me, would know that sometimes I express my mood or how I am feeling through my art…well, I just want to make it clear: this is not the case for this particular painting! I promise, I’m OK, lol! No, I am not violently angry! Nor do I feel like a frenzied, ravenous wolf-creature. This painting was inspired by a dream I had the other night…although I’m not sure if that makes it any less disturbing than the idea of me being a crazy wolf-person….hmmm…

Alright, so to briefly explain this race…they are part wolf and part dragon. They fear nothing and stop at nothing. They are savage and even cruel, but highly intelligent, creative, and organized. They speak the “common” language and have their own rules and laws in their society.

The Dream:
“We were the last survivors…less than 20 of us, men, women, and children. They killed off most of my friends and family. I was a strong leader and fighter. Give me a gun, and I’d be out there in the front with the best of them, leading an army of men. But I was eight months pregnant… So while it was so hard for me to let someone else take charge, I had to stay back to protect the children.

We were forced to seek shelter in the abandoned warehouse. For some time, my friends were even able to keep them out so I could find a safe place for the children. By nightfall, however, they were swarming the building. We were forced down into the basement. Many of my friends were killed and ammo was low… They began ripping  through the ceiling, trying to reach us. They were so close you could almost taste their sticky stench and feel their heat. Their mouths were foaming with blood and drool and their fur matted with filth. We had little hope of surviving the night…”

Hearts are broken,
But heal with time.
Can what once was lost
Again be mine?

Just one day late, but I painted this inspired by the Sabbat Imbolc…

The Imbolc (also know as Candlemas or Festival of Lights) is celebrated on February 2nd. It is a day that marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring. Depending on where you live, you may even find green shoots from snowdrops or crocus in your garden. It is a time for celebrating new life and growth. Cast off the cold, dreary winter and embrace the lengthening days.

Where did time go?
Where have we been?
I try to keep up,
But time is not a friend….

The years tick by,
As the pendulum swings;
Time will heal wounds
And it will bring new things.

I’m caught in frozen shatters
Of time wasted away,
But I’ll always keep trying;
Today’s a new day…

I know…the title is SO unimaginative…

If you ever visit Wicklow lighthouse, you may encounter ghosts. Many visitors have seen the ghost of a headless woman. She is described as a young woman with a good figure and wears a white dress. Some have heard her whistling outside their window, while another warned “If you hear tapping in the night, don’t look out your window”… So according to the stories, there was once a young woman who had two beaus. When one found out she was engaged to the other, he decapitated her with a scythe…now she haunts the lighthouse…

The Wicklow Lighthouse is located on the Eastern coast of Ireland. I “moved” the lighthouse closer to the sea than it really is…I really wanted to paint the water. It actually looks out over a cliff on the Irish Sea. Built in the 1760s, this lighthouse has since been renovated and can be rented out as a weekend retreat. There are many other reported hauntings in the Wicklow area…including a small town and a jail.

During the sleepless hours at 4am, I sat gazing out the window at the nearly full moon…and suddenly became inspired…
